NUPE PEOPLE RENEW AGITATION FOR EDU STATE CREATION, SUBMIT MEMO TO NASS

Yesteday, Friday, September 25, 2020, Distinguished Senator Bima Muhammad Enagi and Honurable Saidu Musa Abdul joined the Working Committee on the creation of Edu state to the office of the Clerk of National Assembly Constitution Review Committe for the submission of a memorandum on the creation of Edu State.
Starting as Ndaduma, Edu State has been the aspiration of the Nupe people of Niger and Kwara States since in the 1990s.

In his short address, Chairman of the Working Committee and Nupe Foundation, Engineer Y. Y. Sani, explained that creation Edu State is key to the harnessing of the huge economic potentialities of the places concerned
.
Another member of the committee, Senator Baba Ahmed Zuruq noted that Nupe people ought to be given two states since the beginning of state creation in Nigeria but since none was exclusively given to them, Edu should be created in the impeding review of the constitution.

In their respective remarks, the lawmakers urged the member of the National Assembly to imbibe fairness and equity to ensure that justice is done to Nupe people this time around.
According to them, Nupe people are highly optimistic this time, because of the integrity and uprightness of President Muhammadu Buhari.
They pledged to 'place all hands on deck' to ensure that aspirations of those they represent come to fruition.

Responding, the Clerk assured that the Committee would do justice to the proposal.
He said, "We have warmly received your communication. It will promotly be communicated to the Chairman of the committee. Copies are also going to be made to every member of the committee promptly. We will do every possible justice to your proposal and I pray that your request is eventually granted."
