The first Professor of Veterinary Medicine in Northern Nigeria, Prof. Shehu Bida is dead. He died in his Bida residence after a protracted illness at the ripe age of 86. Adjudged to be the first professor in KinNupe, Prof. Shehu Marafa will be most remembered for his selfless agitation for the creation of Ndaduma state for KinNupe and leaving Ahmadu Bello University Zaria to serve first as a Commissioner and later as local government chairman in his native Bida at a time he could have pursued an illustrious career in the academics. Until his death, he was the Marafan Nupe.
